Fimian for Congress

I enthusiastically endorse Keith Fimian for Virginia’s 11th district congressional seat.  Despite countless efforts by his opponent–Rep. Gerry Connolly, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and other third-party organizations (MoveOn.org)–to obfuscate the debate and make the election about anything and everything but public policy, Keith Fimian has consistently talked about the important policy issues facing this country and the people of Virginia’s 11th congressional district.  Fimian has run a positive campaign–focusing on the issues and Connolly’s voting record over the last two years on Capitol Hill and his record of mismanagement during his time as chairman of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

Connolly’s views on government and public policy are simply inconsistent with the voters of the 11th district. Connolly voted for the stimulus package, cap…

Fact-Checking Gerry Connolly’s First TV Ad

Posted by Tom Skypek in 2010 Elections

Keith Fimian’s campaign did a great job of fact-checking Rep. Gerry Connolly’s first TV ad. Prior to his election to the House of Representatives in 2008, Gerry Connolly served as the Chairman of the Fairfax Country Board of Supervisors where he doubled property taxes and still wasn’t able to balance the budget. He’s not fiscally conservative and he’s not an advocate of smaller government. He’s voted down the line with Nancy Pelosi. Connolly rode the Obama, anti-Republican wave into the White House in 2008. Connolly simply isn’t right for the 11th District. He’s had two years to prove himself and he’s routinely come up short.

Send Gerry Rodham Connolly Home: Vote Fimian Today!

If you live in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District, please make sure that you vote in today’s Republican primary (you can find your polling place here).  Unfortunately, we can’t send Gerry Rodham Connolly home today, but this is the beginning of the end of his time on Capitol Hill.  I’m convinced that either of the Republican candidates–Keith Fimian or Pat Herrity–would be terrific public servants, especially compared to Gerry Rodham Connolly.  I hadn’t planned on endorsing anyone in the primary, but the recent flap over the proposed Day-Laborer Center in Centreville changed my mind.

Fimian’s opposition was swift and unambiguous.  Pat Herrity’s response was not.  Moreover, as Greg from Black Velvet Bruce Li noted yesterday, Keith has always had an…

11th Congressional District Candidate Keith Fimian Opposes Day-Laborer Center

Posted by Tom Skypek in American Politics

Yesterday, Republican candidate Keith Fimian issued a statement voicing his opposition to the proposed day-laborer center in Centreville.  I commend Keith for his strongly worded, unambiguous statement.

“With plans for a day-labor center moving forward, I join with Centreville residents and business owners in opposition. As well intentioned as proponents of this project may be, it sends entirely to the wrong message to people who have, in many cases, broken our laws to be here and invites a host of problems including increased potential for crime in the area.”
“If the federal government would just do its job, states, localities and well intentioned citizens would not be left with the responsibility of figuring out what to do with illegal immigrants.  The rule of law is…
