She Was Never Even Vetted

Posted by Will Riemer

The Politico’s Mike Allen has a story up about Barack Obama’s Veep selection process and the one person every pundit inside the Beltway thought would be included in it – Hillary Clinton.

“She was never vetted,” a Democratic official reported. “She was not asked for a single piece of paper. She and Senator Obama have never had a single conversation about it…”

Senator Obama, aka. The One, The Messiah, the once-in-a-lifetime leader who will move our country behind our partisan bickering and petty differences into an era of post-partisan euphoria couldn’t even bring himself to vet his opponent for the Democratic nomination.  The gesture alone of merely screening her would have gone miles towards healing the still raw rifts between Obama and Clinton supporters, but he just could not bring himself to do it.

McCain is beginning to solidify his base while Obama continues to flounder in doing so himself.  This election which still is a slam dunk in generic Democrat vs. Republican polls for the Democrats, is anything but in the McCain vs. Obama showdown.

Wasn’t one of Clinton’s main arguments in the primary that she HAD been vetted by her many years in the public eye and exposure to Republican attacks? So who is complaining?

  2. Tom Skypek says:

The 18 million voters who supported her in the primary against Sen. Obama, I would suspect.

This goes beyond substance to feeling. Clinton’s supporters are so charged that they have long blown past reason and are operating on emotion – they will feel this is another slap in the face to her.
